Therese grew up in Stockholm and her first contact with horses was when she visited “Skansen” with her sister and grandmother. Skansen is an outdoor museum that showcases Sweden; its culture, nature, and wildlife. She was five years old at the time and went for a few rounds of pony riding. From the first time she sat on the horseback, she loved it.
Soon after, Therese’s older sister started to ride at a riding school. As the little sister, Therese wanted to do whatever her sister did. When she was around nine years old, Therese also started at the same riding school.
Therese rode at the riding school until she finished high school. After graduating she started to work at Hogsta Riding School where she met a girl whose friend had been to Germany. That friend knew that her former boss was looking for someone to hire and asked if Therese might be interested. Therese called him and they decided that she would go to Germany and give it a try for a few days. Everything happened very quickly. She got the job and less then two months later, she moved to Germany.
It wasn’t until a few years after Therese moved to Germany that she started riding professionally. She started from the bottom as a groom and worked her way up the ranks. Eventually, Therese ended up at Lodbergen where she has been for eleven years now. There, she truly gets to live her dream and helps run a fantastic business.
Therese’s biggest achievements so far include an individual fourth placement and two bronze medals with the Swedish team in the European Championships, she was an individual finalist at World Championships and Olympic Games and has several victories at the 5* level. Her current goals are to compete in the Olympic games in Paris in 2024. Overall, she wants to continue to develop all her horses and learn to become even better.
Therese’s tip for someone who wants to be a successful rider is to spend as much time as possible around horses. Not only in the saddle, but to learn all about them. Additionally, to surround yourself with people who have a lot of experience educating horses with a good horsemanship.
